Wonderful Balloons FAQs
Frequently asked questions
It depends on what your balloons are made from and what they are filled with.
When our latex balloons are filled with helium they generally float for 16 hours. During this time they will slowly shrink in size. If they are needed to last longer we can treat them with "Hi Float" which we may automatically do for some of our products, in which case they can float for several days.
Latex balloons filled with air will last for 10 days or more, however they do not float & are only used in sculptures and arches etc.
Foil & "Bubble" balloons filled with helium can float for up to 14 days.
Yes, you can use balloons outside but you need to be aware of the following:
Bright sunlight can damage all balloons however latex balloons are especially vulnerable to sunlight becoming cloudy and dull. In some cases they may burst unexpectedly.
The wind, even light breezes, will move balloons around quite violently. They become tangled and may burst if they hit objects or rough surfaces, so keep well away from walls and fences etc..
Hi Float is a liquid polymer that is used to coat the inside of latex balloons to make them float longer. In the right conditions this may be for 4 or more days.
It is important however that the balloons are stored correctly. They must not be stored in their bags for more than an hour. They must me kept inside at normal room temperatures and kept out of cellars, sheds, garages etc.. If this is not done then they will not last beyond a few hours.
Hi Float is a non-toxic substance and is generally safe, however if you get it on your clothes wash it off immediately with cold water. Once it dries it is permanent!
